Now we have no Police House  in the village and have lost our very own
village Bobby the Neighbourhood Watch is very important.

Vigilance is needed by everybody, who looks out for your road? If we are to keep our crime rate down to what we have been accustomed to we need more people to be involved with the Neighbourhood Watch. Please let Walter know if you can help or just send me an email or call round.

Trick or treaters across Suffolk are being urged by police to take a responsible attitude to Halloween this year.

They are also appealing to the general public to be a little more tolerant of the high spirits of young people celebrating the event.

A series of posters has been produced which address the issues surrounding Halloween. These posters will be put up around the county and have been widely distributed to schools and businesses.

One poster is designed for those people who do not want to take part in the celebrations to put in their window. It states, The occupants of this house kindly ask you not to call on Halloween. Please respect our wishes. Copies of this poster can be collected from local police stations, or can be printed via the Suffolk Police website at www.suffolk.police.uk

The poster will also be featured in the run up to Halloween in the East Anglian Daily Times, which readers will then be able to cut out and display in their windows.

It is hoped that the privacy of those people who clearly indicate that they do not wish to be involved in Halloween will be respected and trick or treaters will move on.

A second poster is designed to encourage retailers to be responsible with regard to the sale of eggs. They are being asked not to sell eggs to young people on the 30th and 31st of October.

The damage caused by egg throwing will be treated as criminal damage and those caught throwing eggs will be prosecuted - if found guilty they face a criminal record.

Another poster asks parents to think about the safety of their children and asks if they would normally let their children call on a strangers home unsupervised.

On the lead up to Halloween on 31st October members of the local Safer Neighbourhood Teams will be visiting schools with the aim of educating school children on how to behave responsibly within the community and to be respectful to other peoples wishes.

Police Direct Team

Who can believe that yet another year has gone by? As in previous years our area is relatively safe and has a low crime rate.
Two crimes on the increase in Suffolk have been metal thefts and plant and farm machinery.
If you notice any suspicious activity try record vehicle registration numbers. If urgent ring 999 with the details otherwise 01986 835300.
Did you know....?
In 3 out of 10 burglaries thieves do not have to use force? They get in through an open door or window!
A few tips how to keep your property safe and secure: If you have an intruder alarm - set it!
When you lock up at night check all ground floor windows are closed and locked.
If you have a ground floor bedroom have a security stay fitted to window for ventilation.
Always check your doors and windows are locked and secure when your home is unattended even for a couple of minutes.
Our next meeting will be held at 7:30 in the Wangford Community Centre on September 11th. All are welcome!

Regards
Walter
Wangford NHW coordinator

Trades men beware, lock your vans, buy a sticker to say that there are no tools left in your van over night, tint your windows and fit a car alarm, lets not make it easy for the crooks.

If you use fuel oil , fit a good pad lock to your tank as there have been oil thefts in the area and at todays prices you cannot aford to lose it.

RENEWED APPEAL ON MISSING MAN - LOWESTOFT

Police are renewing appeals for help in tracing a 37-year-old man who went missing from an address in Carlton Colville on Saturday 23 August.
Simon Bateman was last seen around 5.10pm on that Saturday and despite enquiries and appeals at the end of August he has not been located.
Following initial media appeals there were potential sightings of him in the Diss and Stowmarket areas.
Now police are renewing appeals for Mr Bateman, or anyone who knows where he is, to call officers.
Mr Bateman is known to be vulnerable and his disappearance was said to be out of character, although he does travel the country, often on foot.
He appears not to have taken any personal possessions or money with him.
Mr Bateman is described as white, 6ft tall, of slight build, with untidy mousy-coloured shoulder length hair. At the time of his disappearance he was wearing a navy blue fleece and jeans.
Anyone who may have seen him or may have information about where he is now is asked to call Lowestoft Police on 01986 835300.

You are all invited

Anyone living or working in the Waveney or Suffolk Coastal Districts will have an opportunity to have their say about local policing issues at two meetings being held next week.

Public meetings are being held at the Riverside Centre in Stratford St Andrew on Monday 6 October and at the Waveney House Hotel in Beccles on Thursday 9 October  and you are invited to attend.

Both meetings will start at 7pm and will give you the chance to raise local issues with senior officers from Suffolk Constabulary and members of the Police Authority.

Chief Inspector Paul Bradford, Waveney District Commander, said anyone was welcome to attend. These meetings are designed to give you the opportunity to express your views about local policing. This could include raising issues you would like to see addressed and putting questions to those responsible for policing locally, and well as hearing about some of the work that is already going on.

Chief Inspector Terry Byford, Suffolk Coastal District Commander, said it was important that views were heard. We want to see as many people as possible at these events. Suffolk continues to be one of the safest counties in the country and we are always working to improve the service we provide but we do need feedback to see what we might do differently and what our priorities should be. Your views are vital to this process so we hope you can make time to join us.

The events will include:
A 'Game Show' style voting session where the public can vote in helping to influence policing priorities;
Presentations about policing performance in the district;
Case studies on police operations that have made an impact in the local community;
A 'Question and Answer' session where concerns can be put directly to senior police officers and Police Authority members; and
An opportunity to have a one to one discussion with a Chief Police Officer.

If you would like to attend either of the meetings please call 01473 613567 or e-mail joanne.garrard@suffolk.pnn.police.uk . Transport is being laid on from the Felixstowe and Woodbridge areas and limited places are still available - if you are interested please contact the front desk at Felixstowe or Woodbridge on 01473 613500 for more details.
